I AM THE FUN BLAME MONSTER to be reissued with extras!

Menom­ena will be reis­su­ing its debut album I Am The Fun Blame Mon­ster! as a CD/DVD pack­age with exten­sive bonus mate­ri­als. The record will be released nation­ally on May 24th on the bou­tique FILMguer­rero label.

Orig­i­nally self-released by the band in 2003, this reis­sue includes the orig­i­nal record, nine bonus tracks, and a ret­ro­spec­tive DVD. The bonus mate­r­ial fea­tures rare footage of the band’s appear­ances on Port­land cable access pro­gram The Sista Social Show, an endear­ingly awk­ward live per­for­mance at the now-defunct Meow-Meow (site of the first Menom­ena show, ever) and music videos for the album tracks “Trigga Hic­cups” and “Cough Coughing”.

Since the release of I Am The Fun Blame Mon­ster!, Menom­ena has gone on to make three more haunt­ing and artic­u­late record­ings. 2005’s Under An Hour (also on FILMguer­rero) con­sists of three lengthy instru­men­tal com­po­si­tions and is the sound­track to a mod­ern dance per­for­mance. In 2007 Menom­ena released their third record, Friend and Foe (Bar­suk) to an over­whelm­ingly pos­i­tive reception.

Mines (Bar­suk), the band’s fourth full-length record, has been lauded by crit­ics at music cul­ture obser­va­to­ries from Pitch­fork to Paste Mag­a­zine (“on Mines full-blown insan­ity finally breaks free of the straight­jacket”), NPR to Alter­na­tive Press (“metic­u­lously crafted [four stars]”), The BBC to Fil­ter (“mag­i­cal”). In 2010 the band made their net­work tele­vi­sion debut as musi­cal guests on Late Night with Jimmy Fal­lon, fol­lowed by two appear­ances on Last Call with Car­son Daly.
